Generosity in yoga is rooted in the concept of seva, Sanskrit word to describe selfless service. This can be as simple as lending a listening ear, offering support to someone in need, or sharing our own knowledge and experiences to uplift others.
Supporting others with an open heart fosters a sense of unity, reminding us that we are all interconnected.
By practicing generosity, we step away from ego-driven desires and move towards a state of gratitude and abundance. This is where true contentment lies. As we give, we become more attuned to the needs of others and develop deeper empathy and kindness, qualities that enhance our own yoga practice and overall well-being.
Whether on or off the mat, practicing generosity transforms not only those around us but also our own hearts, making the world a kinder, more connected place. At Bee Alive Yoga, we are committed to fostering and cultivating connection within our community. In October, we are taking donations for the non-profit organization Sleep In Heavenly Peace in Portage. Their motto is “no kid sleeps on the floor in our town” and volunteers build and deliver beds for children without them. Right now, their greatest need is cash donations for purchasing mattresses and “bed in a bag” bedding sets for older kids, preferably in solid colors.
For the entire month, Bee Alive Yoga Studio will collect these donations for Sleep In Heavenly Peace, and anyone donating any amount will be thanked with a Community Class Pass good for any 3 classes in October at Bee Alive!
